Devils River Conservancy plans to develop a stewardship toolkit and other online resources in 2025. To support this effort, DRC held a fundraiser in December 2024 and invited Devils River Advocates to get involved and give back. We are thrilled to report that we exceeded our goal of $15,000 and ultimately raised $21,733 thanks to the generosity of this community. We appreciate everyone who participated.

Through 2024, Devils River Conservancy has been busy developing the Devils River Watershed Report in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, with facilitation provided by The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment. The project also brought together volunteer experts and stakeholders to conduct an inventory of available information on groundwater resources, species and their flow needs, sustainable recreation, and water quality in the Devils River Watershed. The goals for the report also included identifying what knowledge gaps exist in these areas and providing recommendations for future research initiatives to address these gaps.

While we are excited to share the completed report, it is not a resource DRC intends to shelve now that it is published. Instead, we will utilize it as one critical component in a toolkit we plan to develop through 2025, to support stakeholders in continuing to steward the Devils River's indelible landscape and irreplaceable resources in a rapidly changing world.

This toolkit will necessitate updates to DRC's website, including user-friendly improvements for accessing information in our Devils River Database and elsewhere on the site. DRC will also compile additional technical guidance resources and support research to fill in knowledge gaps identified by the report.

Every dollar we raised through our 2024 year-end fundraiser will directly support our plans to enhance DRC's website and database in 2025, and provide landowners, local leaders, recreationists, and other river advocates with critical information and tools to identify and uphold best practices for protecting this pristine river we all treasure.
